Despite all the obstacles this young man faced, he has made it back to the US. Binyam is family to us, and he always will be. When Binyam had to return to Ethiopia, our hearts were broken. We knew he didn't want to return, and we didn't want him to return. However, he did go back, he scored extremely high on his SAT's, and was awarded a FULL athletic scholarship to Wingate University here in North Carolina. He'll do great too! Binyam won't be allowed to return back to Ethiopia for 4 years. Can you imagine leaving your family and knowing you won't see them for several years? He's a brave young man, who will make an excellent doctor.
Before Binyam left for Wingate, the boys and I drove out to Raleigh to visit with Biny! Kohen LOVES Binyam and Amanuel, and we are SO thankful they are both here in the United States! You should see the wonderful gifts Binyam brought back for us too! Good luck, Binyam! By the way, he is running cross country at Wingate. I can't wait to see him break some records!
